Coffee is not something I thought I would need to enjoy every day. Scratch that - I don’t actually drink coffee every single day, but I do think about it a lot. I prefer to buy coffee than make it at home. But I’m getting more used to making coffee at home and enjoy the taste of it almost as much as when I go out and get coffee.
Now when I say I like coffee - I mean coffee that has milk or half and half and flavored syrup. I do not like the taste of plain, black coffee. Hard pass. I also love iced coffee and prefer it over hot coffee. The hot sun in Texas has reduced the number of strange looks when I am holding an iced coffee in the winter, but I would do that in any climate.
What is your go-to coffee order? Mine is usually an iced coffee or iced latte, with some kind of flavor: cinnamon, vanilla, caramel. I’ve been lucky to live in an area with several coffee spots that all offer delicious coffee.
Favorite coffee places in Round Rock
My favorite coffee place is Dutch Bros Coffee. I enjoy the full experience at Dutch Bros, including the awkward yet friendly conversations you have with their “Bro-istas.” My go-to order is an iced golden eagle, which is a vanilla and caramel breve with caramel drizzle. They’ve started offering protein milk as one of their options, and it is quite delicious and maybe a bit healthier than always getting half and half.
Other favorites at Dutch Bros are the Kicker (Irish Cream breve), Cookie (white chocolate and chocolate macadamia nut), and the Snickerdoodle. You can make almost every coffee sugar free there (at least flavor wise) and then customize the type of coffee and creamer you want added.
The other coffee places that I enjoy going to are Mojo Coffee, Dazzle Coffee & Smoothies, Mi Mundo Coffeehouse, and Lamppost Coffee. These are all local to the Austin area.
I’m excited to try some more coffee places around the area, and Tim Horton’s is coming to Round Rock next year so I’m looking forward to trying it again - along with some Timbits.
