Downtown Round Rock: Best Places To Eat

Updated: May 25, 2023

Round Rock is a big city with roughly 120,000 people living there. With a bigger population than the surrounding areas, excluding Austin, I wasn’t sure what to expect when visiting their downtown.

Downtown Round Rock is a great place to go for a date or with your kids. There are several free parking ramps that you can easily park and walk around exploring downtown. It is really beautiful during the holiday season with all the extra lights and festivities, but it is enjoyable year-round, too.

The downtown area offers several restaurants, bars, shops and outdoor space to walk around and explore. The lit-up water tower is fun to see as you make your way into downtown and can be seen from the top of the parking garages.

The Prete Main Street Plaza has live music as part of Round Rock’s Music on Main, and there are some shops along Main Street and a few blocks around downtown that are fun to step into and look around.

One of the best parts of downtown Round Rock is the food. Some of my favorite spots to eat are:

  • Slapbox Pizzicheria: great pizza and appetizers. Beware that the signature slices are huge!

  • Palermo Pasta House: a favorite place to get pasta. My favorite part is that you can customize your pasta by selecting the pasta shape and sauce. They also offer pizza, calzones and salads.

  • Liberty Barbeque: standard barbeque options with delicious French fries and other sides. As usual with barbeque - come hungry.

  • Finley’s Kitchen+Bar: a place with real cheese curds! I love the hot-honey for dipping and at first didn’t think it would be good - but it’s my favorite. They have great appetizers, wings, bacon grilled cheese and a house blackberry barbeque sauce.

  • Round Rock Donuts: you must get donuts here - they are the best donuts I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they make them, but they are the best and they are pretty inexpensive, too!

  • Mi Mundo Coffeehouse & Roastery: cute coffee shop that offers a variety of coffee and teas. They offer handcrafted lattes with numerous flavors. Some of my favorites are the pistachio mocha and gingerbread vanilla lattes.

There are several other good places to get food and drinks downtown, but these are some of my favorites since we’ve lived here. Do you have any favorite spots to visit in downtown Round Rock that you’d recommend?
