When I’m not buying coffee from one of these places, I’m likely making it at home instead in a lousy attempt to save money and calories.
I found a recipe dupe of the Golden Eagle Breve and it actually does taste very similar. I’m sure the type of espresso or coffee you use makes a difference, but when I use a double espresso pod and follow the rest of the recipe, it tastes almost as good as Dutch Bros.
Some of the things that have been game changers in making iced coffee (or hot coffee) at home include:
Nespresso machine and coffee and Nespresso pods
Using half and half and flavored syrups similar to what the coffee places do (add more syrup than you think you’ll need)
Mixing the coffee, milk, and syrup together in a shaker cup and then pouring over ice
Grinding up fresh coffee beans really does help the flavor (at least for iced coffee)
If I’m grinding up my own beans to make iced coffee, I will pour the coffee into my HyperChiller to cool it down really fast. Then I pour the coffee into the shaker, add some flavor and milk, and pour over ice.
Lately I’ve been making a lot of Nespresso coffee or espresso pods. Here are some of my favorite at-home iced coffee recipes:
Recipes
Iced coffee with vanilla and caramel
Grind coffee beans and brew. Pour into the Hyperchiller to cool it down within minutes.
Grab an insulated mug and add half and half (or cream of choice - the thicker the better).
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar free vanilla syrup.
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar free caramel syrup (Jordan’s skinny syrups or sugar free Torani syrups are good).
Pour coffee from Hyperchiller into your mug.
Extra tip if you’re feeling fancy: Pour coffee, milk, and syrup into a shaker bottle and mix everything up (shake). This extra step does seem to mix everything together better, so I don’t get a strong taste of syrup or just coffee in the first few sips.
Iced latte featuring your favorite flavored syrup
Brew an espresso pod in Nespresso - I like the Voltesso Espresso.
Grab a shaker bottle or insulated mug and pour in half and half (or creamer of choice).
I use 3 to 5 oz. of half and half.
Can substitute milk (I like the Silk Almond Milk Protein).
Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of favorite flavored syrup.
Pour espresso into shaker bottle or mug and mix together.
Pour into an insulated mug after mixing.
Add whipped cream or sweet cream cold foam (Target has a really good one).
I try to mix it up with the flavored syrups I use but my favorites tend to be vanilla, caramel, and anything pumpkin or cinnamon.
